BSTR
Known as a “basic string” or “binary string.” A BSTR is a pointer to a wide-character string used by Automation data-manipulation functions. BSTR strings are also used for passing string data between Component Object Model (COM) components, by utilizing strings allocated with COM’s memory allocator.
